Key rules
description vs seo_description
description is the standfirst shown under the title on the page for human readers. seo_description is the search snippet Google displays in results. Write both. If seo_description is left blank, the site falls back to description.
One category, a few tags
A post has exactly one category. The category defines the post’s topic cluster, breadcrumb trail, and archive URL. Tags are cross-cutting labels (2 to 5 per post).
Quotes in values
If a value contains a colon : or quotation mark ", wrap the whole string in double quotes:
title: "Case Study: How We Scaled Email Delivery"
For docs, category icons and order are configured centrally by the site administrator in brand/docs-categories.md, not inside individual doc files.
